Nightlife in the Park
Want to spend a night under the starts? Go to see A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Delaware Park. The play written by William Shakespeare between 1590 and 1596 is about the events surrounding a marriage of the Duke of Athens and the Queen of the Amazons and also include the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of six amateur actors who are controlled and manipulated by the fairies who inhabit the forest in which most of the play is set in. Shakespeare in Delaware Park has been running since 1976 and there is no end in sight. The shows are free to the public and run from Tuesday through Sunday night with shows starting at 7:30 pm. The productions are put on by a not-for-profit, professional theater company here in Buffalo. While watching the show you will also get to enjoy the historic park designed by Frederick Law Olmstead in 1886. Formerly known as simply “The Park”, Delaware Park is 350 acres in size and includes a water element known as Hoyt Lake. A Midsummer nights dream runs from July 26th through August 19th.
